We are starting registrations for Winter Thunder which is a K-9 wrestling program. Starting November 19th and running through February. See Winter Club post for more information.
I have been working with Essential Website Design to develop wrestlingthunder.com. They have donated many hours of time to develop this site. If you have any need for web design, please give then a shot. The idea is to have a site that can do several things. We will feature a wrestler of the week, post results of each competition, roster information, and calendars. We will have a system that the team/parents can upload video and the coaching staff will be able to review each match and make comments. This will be a great coaching tool. We will also have managers reasonable for taking pictures and video at competitions and practices. We will be able to upload those photos and videos, parents will have access to them to download or even order prints through smugmug.com which is linked through the web site. I am trying to do all the things I wish I had as a wrestler’s parent.
We have begun preparing for the upcoming High School season. We had a wrestling meeting a few weeks ago and had over fifty students show up all expressing interest in wrestling and I had around 15 girls show up interested in being a manager. I have had more students come to me since. All told I have around 80 students in an email contact list and around 20 girls. Several students came to me and wanted to start conditioning. So this week we started at 6:00 am to 7:00am. We have had between 25 – 30 students each day. Good turn out for that early and not being required.
I had a managers meeting this week and laid out all the actives I would like help with. Here is a quick list: wrestler of the week to trophy case and web, result to the web, photos to web and case, stats, video to web, pre-practice help, duals – pre-music- singing national anthem-programs-concession, etc. As many that want to help, I can put them to work.
In the next few weeks we will be starting on the parents and developing a list for them. Anna Butler will be the booster club president.
